Polyester powder coatings are formulated with a polyester resin cured with triglycidyl isocyanurate (TGIC) or alternately hydroxyl-alkyl-amide (HAA).

Polyurethanes, on the other hand, are cured with a multifunctional isocyanate and derive much of its performance from this crosslinker.
